<2> THE PODENZANA CASTLE Town of Podenzana Italy
Location:
Commercial Property Available: THE PODENZANA CASTLE

A tortuous steep road on the other side of the Magra River brings you from the City of Aulla to the Town of Podenzana,  which is scattered with numerous small villages around it.

These dominate, from a considerable height, The Magra Valley and The Fortress of Brunella.

>From The Castle of Podenzana, originally built in the 13th Century and erected on a considerable vantage point, surrounded by a large park, you can enjoy a beautiful view of The Magra Valley. It is also not far away from the sanctuary of La Madonna Del Gaggio O Della Neve. The area is surrounded by numerous trekking excursions and tourist itineraries.

>From the front gate, at the end of a long tree-lined pathway, you arrive at the main entrance.

Anciently under Episcopal Jurisdiction, The Podenzana Feud was disputed for a long time with the Malaspina Family that, at the end came in possession of it.

It belonged to various branches of the Malaspina family until it became independent in the 16th Century, and during the succession wars it was ravaged by the Hispanic-Gauls and was partially reconstructed with the original material found on the site after the last war.

The City of Aulla rests on the Cisa Pass Motorway about one and a half hours drive from Milan, and only 30 minutes from Pisa, Pisa Airport and Viareggio, which is the fashionable summer partying capital of Fort Dei Marmi which is on the Versilia Coast.

In the extensive park that surrounds the castle, permission was granted in June 2003 by the Podenzana City Council to allocate considerable land to the development of residential property and other land to the construction of structures to be used in conjunction to the Castle.

The Podenzana Castle is being sold with existing furniture to include numerous paintings, furnishings and collectors  items.
